Knit, Relax, Repeat

So yesterday was the most lazy day I’ve had in a long time.  Basically I knit and napped all day.

Danish Tie Shawl 8-25-2008 9-00-57 AM

I worked diligently on the Danish Tie-Shawl and bound it off, but as you can see it back live and on the needles again.  It needed to be about 3-4 inches longer.  It was 21 inches once off and after trying it on, I think about 25 inches would be a lot better.  Anyway, I was trying to get away with just using the blues, but I’m just about out now of the blues.  So when I put the brown in it didn’t work before, so now I’m just decided to do two rows of each color at the end until I get to the length I need, working the browns in.

I think it’s working ok, but now I’m just like this thing needs to get done before I send it back to the frog pond.  I keep tellling myself that this is a ultilitarian piece and I’ll be wearing it with jeans and it will all be fine.  Although now that I’ve done this once, I’ll be planning my colors a little differently.

ETA - here’s another picture.

Bread and Waffles

So I know this is a knitting blog, but boy am I finding it hard to chase after a puppy and do the knit thing lately.  Plus I’ve been so tired.  It didn’t help that Sunday I decided to power wash the parts of the house siding I could reach.  Although it was really nice to walk out on the front porch and it was spider free.  Mostly.  They’ve already started to move back in.

Anyway I thought I break the bread maker out again and give it a whirl.  This was so-so tasting.  However, it does look pretty.

I sliced it thin for a sandwich, but it was a bit too yeasty or maybe it was the sunflowers.  It was sunflower and flax seed.  It could’ve been the flax seed.  Anyway - taste was just ok.

One really nice creation was the waffles that DH made.  Gorgeous and tasty.  I sliced the strawberries.  DH also ordered the maple syrup from Two Pigs Farm.  Light and flavorful.  Sorry it’s already sold out.  Have to wait for next year.

So I thought I knit it more since the last picture… then I realized I did, but then ripped it.  I put the brown in and it just didn’t work, so again I ripped it back a bit. I think the light blue looks better, much better.

I’m hoping to make some more progress tonight.

The Fat Bee is Warming Up

I have to admit, for a while there I was beginning to wonder if I would make it myself.

Just a few finishing touches, a good blocking, and bees will be buzzing.

Danish Tie-Shawl Continues

I was consulting the pattern as it seems to be growing in width quicker than length and I have about 19 or 20 inches at this point, so that means about 5 or 6 more. But first I’m going to have to get the wheel back out as I ran out of the lighter brown mid-row and will be needing some more.

I think since it seems thicker that my is definitely off and causing the running out of yarn issue. Not a problem though, I would be able to get a few more ounces of the blues if necessary. Just have to make a run to the Fold for it. I have plenty of the browns.

15 Rows

So I didn’t mean a mini-blog break, but I’ve been hot and heavy taming the bees. Then when I was going to post the Internet was down. So here we are only 15 rows to go. Of course each row now takes me a half an hour and I must’ve spent a good 45 minutes over a row when I forgot to do a yarn over in the beginning. I was totally puzzled and obviously tired, but I figured it out. Whew! Maybe, just maybe I can get it done this weekend. Maybe.

First Attempt

So after rooting through my stash, I picked out some colors that I think may work for this Danish tie-shawl. I’m still deciding on the Alpaca as I’m not sure that will work for the singles.

I started spinning at group last night and then continued when I got home.

Not as straight as I would like but I think it will work for this pattern since it’s garter stitch. I did do a little hand felting when I set the twist in the hopes it won’t pill as much.
