Sales

So it seems like all of the LYS’s are having sales or have had sales recently.  It’s really hard to not buy anything when you see deals like 40%  and 60% off.

Now everyone who knows me, knows I love natural fibers, but sometimes a girl needs bling.  Since Coco is going to be in desperate need of  a new wardrobe this fall bling was in order.

First off - the two on the left.  The browns and the lime green I have planned for Coco.  Then I found the blue and pink marked 60% off and thought - ok Sophie and Max can ha something too.

We can’t forget about them.  So a couple new wools and a couple from my stash paired up are going to make some delightful little pieces.

I was thinking some little scarf bandannas, but once I got home and saw Coco and Max again.  They may get little shrugs or just short sweaters.  I’m thinking Sophie may get her bandanna still.  I just want to use up the whole ball of bling.

Finally - I bought Coco a smaller more cozy bed for knitting on the sofa and I need to get one a smidge bigger for Max - who took right to it.

Or I could knit them a  felted cozy with stash handspun yarn (that I spun a million years ago when I was learning) and this delightful bling.

Oh - and I was up before dawn today - wide awake and got my tower just before the sun came up.

Graduate

Well it started off stormy but by mid afternoon it was sunny, hot and humid.

Rockton, IL 8-23-2008 2-37-45 PM

Our biggest accomplishment for the day was getting Coco through her puppy class.  Yeah!  We’re signing up for the first session of training that starts mid-September to continue down a good path.

Whipped

So I had grand plans laid out for today that did not happen.  I really didn’t realize I was so tired today until I said I’d take a little nap and that lasted all afternoon.  Whoops.  Well I think it all started last Sunday when I wasn’t feeling great and then Monday and Tuesday I battled allergies and sinus problems.  Finally this past month has been quite busy with all the puppy things going on, so I think I just got whipped.  Oh well, I’m feeling much better tonight and actually think I will be going back to bed at a reasonable hour.

It was however a waste of a beautiful Saturday.

Danish Tie Shawl re-do 8-15-2008 9-59-47 PM

And I am making progress on re-knitting my Danish Tie-Shawl  I’ve opted for a slightly different color scheme this time.  I don’t think I’ll be using all the yarn that I spun though as my gauge is heavier and I’m now using a much larger needle.

First Haircut

We’ve had an on and off day with weather today.  It thunderstormed this morning and then became nice this afternoon.  Now it’s threatening again.

Rockton 8-9-2008 5-02-32 PM

Today was a day of firsts.  After our puppy class, which ended up being the extended version today.  We went to the groomers for our first haircut.  Sorry but prepare for the cuteness.

I really love this bright blue bandanna - she’s going to need sweaters for the cold, cold winters around here.  One will have to be out of this color.  She also slept through the night last night - from 11pm to 6:20AM - whee.  She also just went to the back door to tell me she has to go out for the first time tonight.  At 12.5 weeks - I think this is fantastic.

Here is Sophie - we went a little shorter on her face.  I think she looks right smart.

I have totally finished my end sewing of the Bee Field Shawls - blocking shortly and the ends on the scarves are also done.  Things are getting done - albeit slowly,

Saturday Sky

This is one of those gorgeous - wish I could bottle days - from when it is February and I’m totally sick of winter.

Saturday Sky and Puppy Class

So we’ve seem to have reached the hot humid high heat phase of the summer.  Fun.

It is a perfect Saturday.  Pefect for puppy class.

Here is Coco after puppy class.  20 minutes of sheer play with other puppies.  She had fun.

Saturday Sky and the Loot

First off just let me say, if you sorry if you stopped by earlier and could not get on.  I’m not sure what happened.  It was some sort of server problem.  I did some tinkering.  Don’t know if it’s something I did or it just got done, but it seems all cleared up now.

DSC02673

It rained overnight and was hot, muggy, and cloudy most of the day.  It did finally clear up later, but it stayed hot.

So, I did get to play with my loot a little bit, but mostly I spent the day with DH.  He’s been working a ton on a big project he has going on and we haven’t gotten to just hang for a while.  We just ran some errands and had a big lunch, but it was nice.

Onto the loot.  First off I love, love, love this little book.

DSC02667

This book has not gotten near enough press and it is the cutest book.  I also met the author and she is very nice.  There are some great new concepts in the book and new designs.  There is also some great kitty things I will be making for the feline members of this family.  However, I have to tell you all a new little canine member may be joining our family soon.  So, there will be some special knitting for her.  All will be reveled in time, but when I say little, I mean little.

This will be the first thing I knit from this book.  Isn’t it adorable.

One of the things I love about these shows is the plethora of patterns.  They knit up awesome samples to touch and examine, so you can make your own.  They also have such variety and all of the new things.

Now I really liked this one regardless if she looks like Nancy Reagan or not.

DSC02669

I think Mom would look fantastic in this sweater.  I don’t know about this year, but maybe next.  She has other “I wants” on her list.  I also loved the raglan cabled sweater, you don’t see that much.

Finally there was the must have shawls and this delightful pretty shawl/sweater combo (on the far right), which I think would be gorgeous in an oatmeal or off white.

One of the things that seemed to be plentiful as this festival was indie dyers, which let me just say was a blast.  I found many, many things that could’ve gone home with me, but I was totally in love with Gales Art booth.  She does these crockpot random batts that were super reasonable.  She is a really nice person too.  These were just super fun and I can’t wait to spin them up. So all in all, I stayed on budget, which was good and I had a great time.

Saturday Sky

About 1:30am big storms rolled in and gave us another good rain.  While I love sleeping in storms, our river was just about going down.  Across the street from us the houses sit right on the river and I’m good with that.  I really don’t want to own river front property.

It then cleared up and then the clouds rolled right back in again.

Before I went off on my errands, I was able to work on my garden a bit and things appear to be coming along nicely.  Although with all this water, my zucchini is looking a little water logged.  Hopefully it will dry out soon and I will get a nice crop of my zucchini bread like a couple of years ago.  I made 12 loaves that year and had more than enough for stews and grilling.

Saturday Sky

This was one of those bottle perfect days.  It was beautiful, sunny and warm.  While I don’t totally love warm weather anymore, I know when it’s deep in January, this will be a day to remember.

Saturday Sky

This has been a weird weather day.  One minute it’s beautiful and then it’s pouring rain.  Now it’s windy beyond belief.  Whew, what a weird day.  This is when it was beautiful out.

Rockton IL 6-28-2008 6-35-12 PM

This week I was having a chat about my water tower.  This is such a common site around here and most communities have more than one.  I think I’m going to remember to pop my camera in my bag and hopefully in a few weeks we will see some additions to my tower.
