I finished two bags for friends for Christmas prezzies.

I also managed to finished the [...]]]> So last day of the year… just a small wrap up, as I’ve been busy as ever working on projects and trying to check things off the list.

Here’s the insides… one in beige and one in gray.

I also managed to finished the foundation paper piecing mat and get it done, quilted with some red metallic thread, and bound.

Finally… picked up some new wall art… indulging my quilting sense.

Sister’s Choice on the left, Dutch Rose in the middle, and a LeMoyne Star on the right.

Also appears my Flickr plug-in has broken with this latest WordPress update… hope they get that fixed soon, but you can see higher quality photos always at my Flickr page here.  Hate having to scale back my photos.  There does seem to be a few changes in this latest edition of WP that I’m not too crazy about.  I’m hoping that smooths itself over soon.

Here’s the after with some lovely red.  [...]]]> So I took last week off and decided to do some house upkeep.  One of the things I wanted to do was to re-paint and fix up the front.  Since we got the new white windows I found the beige to be… well… beige.

I have to still make a few touch-ups this week, but I’m happy to cross this off the list.

Sorry for the long hiatus. Right after the windows were replaced – Coco needed knee surgery. It’s been quite a recovery period – 4 weeks so far tomorrow and then another 8 weeks of restrictions. Between taking care of her and everything else going on it’s been a challenge, but I’m [...]]]> Happy Whisker’s on Wednesday!

Sorry for the long hiatus. Right after the windows were replaced – Coco needed knee surgery. It’s been quite a recovery period – 4 weeks so far tomorrow and then another 8 weeks of restrictions. Between taking care of her and everything else going on it’s been a challenge, but I’m finally getting back on track. I have managed to do a lot of crafting. I had an applique and another quilt class. I seem to have 4 UFO quilts now. I really have to work those down. I also have been knitting, working on embroidery, and spinning little by little.

I did manage to get some pics of the Sunshine, who clearly needs to back away from the Persian food. It’s hard to regulate when you have some picky eaters and 4 different foods out. Our little Lily seems to only like the Iams Kitten food – which took us a while to find. I think she was living on Temptations for a while there.

The quilts are coming along.

I also had a little helper.

I learned to knit English.  I have always [...]]]> So Julie and I took 5 classes at the WI Sheep and Wool this year.  Yes we are crazy and that is why we are now busy recuperating.  One of the classes was a Russian continental knitting class.  Technically this is an Eastern combined knitting technique.

I learned to knit English.  I have always knit English, but have yearned to go faster and easier on the wrists – of course.  I’ve ventured to two-handed knitting when doing Fair Isle, but for the most part I have reverted back to English.  This time I thought I would practice with a simple dishcloth that used a cable and some other common stitches.  Thanks to the Combo Ravelry group I was directed to a translation from Western to Eastern and this lovely dishcloth was an evening knit.  I think I’ll have to practice more to get it totally down, but it may be doable.

When I was contacted by Stephanie – Biffy Beans – about reviewing a webbie and doing a giveaway, I jumped at the chance.  As a lover of notebooks and fountain pens, I have a special fondness for Rhodia products and this one did not disappoint.

First off it has a lovely sturdy cover, elastic closure, ribbon tab, and pocket in the back.

When I opened it I found smooth creamy blank paper.  The journal itself lays flat for easy writing.

Finally I tested it out with a Lamy EF in Poussiere de Lune.  It writes like butter across this paper.  No bleed through, and some pretty shading emerged.

Overall this notebook is a clear winner and my new favorite.
