I have so many sewing mishaps, it’s amazing I have the audacity to keep going back to the sewing well. Every once in a while though I get a sewing bug and can’t get rid of it without giving it a go. I decided I needed a journal cover for my new datebook. I bought one of these Moleskine 18-month date books and I thought it would be nice to have a different color cover to be able to easily pick it up.

I followed this pattern and everything seemed to be going well, but then I decided I really wanted to use the elastic band, so how could I do that… I thought maybe a large button hole on the back.

Hmmm…. well that didn’t go so well, but it’s not so bad not to use it. When I was putting the button hole in, I thought this would be so much simpler with knitting. Cast off and then cast on – instant button hole.

One of my new found loves is the fountain pen. I bought my first fountain pen and ink this past week. This Poussiere de Lune translates to Moon Dust. I love it and it’s an extra-fine nib Lamy. Writing with it is just a joy. It makes me want to write. Of course I’m coveting their new special edition pink Lamy.

So we got our first delivery of the CSA this week and we got arugula. Lots of arugula. I made a pesto last night, which turned out just ok.

DH however fixed it up tonight with some chicken and put some more tasty things with it and it was much more mild tonight. Last night it was way too bitey.

Today started off with a drizzle, but I managed to get out and get my Saturday Sky picture.

It did however get sunny later on and start drying things out. I was starting to get worried about the garden with all of this cool rain. I don’t want any mold or rot to take over before things get started. I’ve checked them over and things seem to be ok.

My clemtis has definitley produced larger flowers this year, over last year. They are tea cup saucer size for sure.

My lettuce in the bucket are starting to come up. I think I have them in the perfect spot to produce lovely lettuce for the season. I hope anyway.

So after a little garden review, I headed over to my local library. I had forgotten Friends of the Library were having a book sale. So of course I took a browse and found some real finds. Basically the rules are fill a brown grocery bag full for $5. It’s such a good deal, I have a hard time passing it by. I’ve been journaling lately with a passion in my Moleskine and found Keeping a Journal You Love by Sheila Bender, but I think the two real finds of the day were these.

There are 3 Vogarts here – one is a duplicate.

Then this little gem. I think probably some really informative information.

By the time I got out of there my bag over-floweth. I got to the counter and one of the ladies said, very seriously I might add, “I think that bag is a $6 bag.” (lol) I tried very hard not to laugh. Unfortunately some of them have no sense of humor. I really didn’t want to offend, so I just paid my $6, gave them a grand smile and lugged my bag out to the car praying it wouldn’t break. Can’t wait for the fall sale.

What a title. I swear it can’t just be me that has trouble with these things, can it?

I’m making steady progress on the shawl. Dang that sleeping thing. At least I have the second ball on. Moving along swimmingly.

I have a new obsession. I was browsing in the book store – a 40% coupon will drive me in the place (only during work hours though when it’s not too crowded), when I spotted these lovely little Moleskine books. Well, obviously I’m late to the party, but I loved the blank one… no lines, no rules. Paper in a book with no rules. The small things amuse me. I showed DH when he got home and he’s said “you mean a sketch book.” Well kinda, but different.

This is my place for all of my crazy ideas – all of them – sweater designs, book ideas (of books that will never be written), little drawings, skein samples, every crazy idea in my head could get out and go in the books. Don’t get me wrong, I haven’t been living under a rock. I’ve heard of this before, but something about these little books made my creative side go zing. I swear I’m digging out my colored pencils and drawing pencils tonight.

Finally, the blah….it hasn’t been all tasty bits around here. This was my attempt at ratatouille. It came out more like a stew or stir-fry, so I added some rice, but it was bland – so bland. I’m going to have to find another recipe and give this one another go.
