Finished Projects

I’ve been working really hard to finish up some really old projects. They had been WIPs way too long and that had to come to an end.

In a finish or frog it decision I decided to felt this mitten and make it a cat toy. It was too big and I was not going to knit the mate.

Finally got this tea cozy complete. Again it turned out a bit too small and too long. It was more like a coffee press cozy. However, I made it work and was able to ditch the pom-pom on top. Fits my 2-cup Brown Betty nicely.

These car socks sat in the car way too long. Finally finished them up and another pair of useful socks for the drawer to replace the few blown out ones I had last winter. See how I said last winter – we won’t count those nasty snowflakes that tried to fall on Saturday.

When in Doubt Block it Out

So you know all those little knitting worries – is it too tight or are the stitches puckering? Well, just block it out and the results are wonderful. It also straightens the side stitches. I love them and they fit great. This is the finished picture.

Two Thumbs Up!

I knit the first thumb and then had to have along break today before starting the second thumb tonight. I think the thumb was the most difficult part just because of small amount of stitches and small size of the needles. Although I think they turned out great. Ready for a good soak now and then I’ll get their final picture before they are off.

Thank goodness this book is so easy to read. I got one right paw and one left paw. Whohoo! Onto the thumbs. Next pair has to be out of handspun.

Have You Heard about Jack?

So last night I caught up with my Tivo and knitted the second cuff while watching Tin Man.

Also, have you heard about Jack the Great Pyrenees? I saw this over at Rissa’s blog and wanted to pass the word along. They are having raffles for $10 ticket donations and some of the yarn and fibers look luscious. Make sure to read his about page and how this happened to him. I was just horrified. I want to help spread the word.

Frenzy

I’m seriously starting to feel the crunch of the holiday knitting season upon me. I’ve been limiting my computer time by keeping the needles in my hands longer. Working Saturday doing inventory also didn’t help. I just kept thinking of my knitting time that was being lost. After a 2-hour nap to refresh – I was up to three in the morning knitting the rest of the hand. Today I knit the decreases.

These mittens while seemingly simple do take the time.

I have one done without the thumb so far. Can I make another in a week? It remains to be seen.’

At least I broke the stranded mitten curse. This one has a good fit.

Holiday Knitting Continues

So let’s see, I have to have everything mailed by the 18th at the latest…. hmm this is going to be interesting.

I’m doing one rib warmer – this is the white yarn I spun using Paula’s method of spinning with softness and speed. It ended up in a dye pot last week and became this beautiful blue, which is slightly variegated.

I can already tell you the next time I make this pattern and I will because it’s simple, fun and will be super cozy… I will slip the first stitch of each row to get a nice smooth edge.

Next are the Selbuvotter mitts. This is pattern 9 made out of Falk.

I love these mittens… hopefully they won’t come out too small. I’m right on gauge.

The Plain Was Too Plain

Ok, so I think I’m done now with these mitts. The plain mitts weren’t going to cut it – too plain, so I happened to get the the treads out and just did a stylized – no pattern design. I like the way they turned out. Much more interesting now.

Thumb Do-Over

Ok – I ripped back the bigger thumb because it bugged me. Here we are now, suitable finished project.

Mitten Sets

Ok – I finished the second one of the Cozy Cabled Mitts, but I have to rip back the thumb on the left. It’s a little long. Whoops.

If you knit this pattern, it has a mistake. Also, I’m not thrilled about the decreases and I would try it differently the next time.

Also, I finished the simple pair and the thumbs turned out perfect. This is just a plain mitten pattern.
