By Madame Purl, on January 6th, 2011 Yes… I had plans to have it done by the New Year, but alas not quite yet. However, still going along swimmingly.
Mellerstain Parrot Crewel Kit – from Crewel Work. If you’re curious this is the house where the original hangs. This is just a small part of the original tapestry. I have another [...]
By Madame Purl, on October 3rd, 2010 The parrots have been taking a break for far too long and I decided it was time to get them out again and work on them. I’m nearly at the 50% mark now, which is a good thing.
This is the top section that I finished. Next up – the berries.
This is the [...]
By Madame Purl, on July 27th, 2010 Slowly.
I have not been a slacker though… much. Coming soon – Lace weight handspun yarn (I think 550 yards – but I need to put it through the meter), a pair of socks, and a slug.
By Madame Purl, on July 6th, 2010 Moving along… I was able to finish the leaves in the area, the beak, and the eye. I especially like the way the beak turned out.
I then switched to do the leaves and acorns in the corner. You can see I went wild again with the French knots.

By Madame Purl, on July 3rd, 2010 This project is really addictive. The leaves are getting easier and the acorns… don’t get me started on the acorns. Those are so much fun, I couldn’t put this down until 1 am last night. I absolutely love the french knots.
Now let me tell you about my MagEyes. These are the. [...]
By Madame Purl, on June 28th, 2010 Well as you can see I’m still working on my Parrots. I finished a leaf, a stem and re-did the berry.
If you notice I also fixed the wing on the lower right hand corner – in the white. It looks much more robust now.
[...]
By Madame Purl, on June 24th, 2010 So back to English Crewel… I finished the wing.
Of course now that I look at this picture I notice that it needs just one more stitch in the upper right hand corner. I will get that next and then instead of finishing the beak and eye right this moment, I’m going to do [...]
By Madame Purl, on June 21st, 2010 I just got back from a fabulous weekend. Last Wednesday I headed out to my hometown – Detroit - for a dual purpose visit. I got to see my Mom and I got to take a fabulous 2-day workshop with Phillipa Turnball. It was hosted at the Edsel and Eleanor Ford house, which is designed [...]
By Madame Purl, on July 13th, 2009 So I’m still trying to complete the crewel sampler project that I have been working on… oh for the last many months. I’m forcing myself to finish this before I start a new project. This is actually the practice before the sampler. However, I don’t seem to work on it very often and when I [...]
By Madame Purl, on October 17th, 2008 Dang I’m in a knitting funk. I’m hoping to find it this weekend. Ugh. I’m probably just feeling sulky because I am going to miss Rhinebeck tomorrow. Even though I have more than enough, I’m going to miss fondling all the nice fleeces.
I did get my crewel workbook. I’ve been spending time studying all [...]
