Dishcloth Two

I had an itching to do another of these dishcloths.  It went a lot faster this time and turned out just perfect.

I can see the why these dishcloths are so addictive.  I have to admit I never gave dishcloth knitting or crochet in this case a lot of thought, but I can see why folks like them.

The Emma Cowl

Flirty, romantic, and just plain pretty -

My next crochet project - which was inspired by one I saw on Etsy.com, but pattern my own…

The Emma Cowl, with matching mittens.

The Emma Cowl is made out of Homespun. Yes you heard me right - Homespun in Covered Bridge Red.

The recipe for the Emma cowl is this - you cast on as many to go around your next times 2 and then DC back and forth 7 times. Seam up the back.  Slide a ribbon through the middle crochet and scrunch it up around your neck. I also used this yarn double stranded throughout.

This is how it looks without my mug in the picture. I think I need one of those dress dummies as I never seem to take a half-way decent picture anymore.

The matching mittens are made from the Knitter’s Handy Book of Patterns.

Bunny Slippers

These are the bunny slippers from the Happy Hooker.

The main reason I bought this book was for the bunny slippers.

They are so cute I had to make a pair.

I asked for a class at the LYS because I never crocheted before and they obliged. My friend Beverly taught and had to re-write the pattern a little more simply.

The is was not an easy peasey piece that is for sure… but the results are well worth the wait and I learned to crochet in the process. Not like I knit - I’m just a fledging crocheter, but still I’m learning.

There’s a Hooker in the House

Let’s see how many hits I get just off that title. (lol)

So we survived family visit 2007, for the most part. On Saturday when they headed home early thanks to the weather, I headed to the yarn shop to go to a crochet bunny slipper class. These are the bunny slippers from the Happy Hooker. I’ve never crocheted before, but I’ve seen it done and figured I could do it.

Well, lets see -

This is the top - the one on the left was right after the visit - see how tight the tension is… the one on the right was after some much needed rest.

Again in this picture - the one on the left was the first piece I did, which is the sole. The second sole was done on after some rest.

These are the ears - all done at the same time, so they won’t need a re-do, but I’m thinking I’m going to knit one more top and sole now that I’m much more relaxed.

So, I’m really behind on my blog reading and reading emails, but I hope to catch up soon.
