R is for Running Ragged

I know I missed both Whisker Wednesday and Dogs on Thursday this week.  I have been running ragged around here lately.  It’s that time of the year where all the cats go for their respective vet visits.  In the last two weeks, I found out poor Tobey has a UTI that I have no idea how long that’s been going on.  Doc has no idea what triggered it, but we also did blood work and other then the UTI is fit as a fiddle.  Tobey is feeling much better and is out and about.  I’m hoping to see mischievous behavior out of him shortly.

Next Friday is the last visit for a while, until Coco goes for her spay and poor Sunshine gets her teeth cleaned again.  It’s going to be soft food only before long with that girl.

The one I’m most concerned about is poor Faygo has a runny eye.  Poor thing has scratched his eye, we believe with his own paw.  He’s needing two different medicines 4 times a day.  He’s nearly 100% blind in both eyes due to cataracts, so it’s always a surprise to him when he gets medicine.

He and I had a little talk about how he needs it and we don’t need an eye popping out.  I don’t thing he would survive a major surgery like removing an eye and I’m not sure that is something I would want to put him through.  He is 18 and a diabetic, so he’s had good quality of life.  I would just like to see this one heal.  It takes him an awful long time to heal anything that’s why unless it’s an emergency I don’t poke him with the glucose meeter.  He gets shots twice a day and I’ve had the vet check and he says he is very well regulated, so I don’t worry about checking myself.  So, if your sending positive thoughts out, a small one for him would be appreciated.

Q is for Quaint

I have yet to make my kitchen the dishcloths it deserves.  However, when I saw this cute pattern for the hyperbolic dishcloth, I knew I had to give it a go.

Hyperbolic Dishcloth

I’m a completely novice crocheter but was able to get this done with a bit in the morning and then working on it for a bit in the evening.  I didn’t follow the directions exactly, but it still came out super cute.  This one is more flouncy then the ones the pattern makes.

I will probably do some nice plain ones now, as I can always use some nice mindless knitting.  I’m thinking of trying Grandmother’s favorite.

P is for Progress

I’ve spent the weekend cleaning and trying to make some progress on some of my older of WIP’s.

First off these Summer of Love Lace Socks… I think maybe a year old.

Next up I’ve been crocheting the border on my Danish Tie Shawl.  Almost done and I’m starting to love it as it’s all coming together.

O is for Opthamologist

Well, I totally forgot about the ABC-Along.  Whoops.  So here I am catching up again.  I think we’re on Q for a few more days.

So two days ago, poor Faygo’s eye swelled up.  Off to the vet we went.  I think Anyway Faygo’s eye is looking much better, but still not perfect.

Hopefully it will be back to normal soon.

N is for Nails

Yesterday after puppy class I headed out to the spa.  DH got a gift certificate from Aveda with points, so I got to have a manicure, pedicure and massage.  I still haven’t come up with a N and really I’ve been a little preoccupied with the Coco and the menagerie around here to think about it closely.  I’m sure there’s lots of good N’s like - nature or even nothing.  Nothing is something, right?  Anyway after I had my nails painted with Elephantastic Pink - I thought - hey’s there’s a good N.  Not that it will last long.  My nails seem to shed paint in 24 hours.

Anyway Coco has started to go into her crate on her own when she get’s tired.  She rolls with it.  Time for play and time for sleep.  The big dogs played with her a bit today, but I had to put a cap on it when it seemed a little rough for her.  They forget she’s under 3 pounds.

This guy was really getting into it.  Flinging his 12 pounds around like nothing.

Ignore the overgrown nature in the back.  I’m going with the natural look this year.

M is for Mouse

Wow, so I’m really stinking at this whole ABC-Along.  I’m resolving, again, to do better with N.  (lol)  Today I’m combining my ABC along with Wisker’s on Wednesday.

This handsome devil is my Faygo.  We estimate he is somewhere in the 16 to 18 year old range.  Maybe older, but who really knows.  He’s certainly a gentleman and not spilling the beans on his age.

I adopted him 8 years ago.  I saw that big orange tabby perched up on top of a cat tree at PetsMart and knew he found a home.  Something about gigantic orange tabbies that make my heart swoon…

Anyway, about 5 years ago, he was diagnosed with diabetes.  He get’s a shot twice per day of 5 units of insulin.  He has done amazingly well.  We popped into the vet for a visit about a month ago to have a blood sugar check and he’s “very well regulated,” according to the doc.  Over the last couple of years though he gets sores in his mouth.  Poor guy - it must be hard to eat.

We went to the vet when I noticed we didn’t have our regular evening show.  They have this mouse in several colors and each evening he will pick one out, walk arround the house with muffled MOW’s.    When this stopped I knew something wasn’t right, so off to the vet we went.  According to the vet he has such terrible cataracts that he doesn’t see so well anymore, but the funny thing is, he picks out a different mouse in a different color every night.  The vet did give him a shot to set him right and our nightly shows have resumed.

L is for Learning

Yeah!  Look what I found at my local library.

I’ve been wanting to preview this for awhile, but was thinking I may know many of the things on it.  With that being the case, I didn’t think it was worth putting out the cash for, so this is a real find for me.

K is for Kitty

I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to think of a K.  With all the little faces staring at me all day, every day, it’s a wonder I haven’t come up with it sooner.  Tsk, tsk on me!

K is for Kitty

Of course I could have also used K is for knitting.  I guess it was a rough two weeks.  I’m off to sit in the corner with a dunce cap.  (lol)

J is for Jane

Plain Jane that is…

Up we have a lovely set of plain Jane socks in my favorite Yankee knitter socks for the whole family pattern.

I is for Inspiration

So I fallen behind a bit in the ABC Along, but I’m hoping to catch back up.

There is so much inspiration around here. There’s the magazine even called Inspirations that I totally love. You can find some knitting there sometimes, but most time I’m busy drooling over the embroidery. I’ve also found tons and tons of Ravelry projects that seem to be a huge source of inspiration.

This week I’ve been busy drooling over Tustin, Brown Sugar Bear, and Nanaimo.

Those were Ravelry links, but you can find more of these lovelies here. I’m so tempted to take up the tiny crochet hook and make some tiny bears.
