Hello! Sorry for the long hiatus. I’m back from taking care of a sick relative and getting back in the groove.

Anyway… Coco is four today…

We are having a quiet day today. We’re going out for a walk and going to have a treat. Only a side shot…she wasn’t being overly cooperative with the camera out today.

Tiny Lion

Poor Violet… She’s like a tiny lion walking around.

Her hair was just shedding too fast and I couldn’t keep up. Plus she’s gets a wee bit on the crabby side when you get the brush out. She’s bounced back just fine and found out she likes a good scratch on the less hairy bits.

Tokyo Rococo

So I had a great opportunity to take a color class with my friend Cindy. It was so inspiring… I just got full of color ideas and took off with it adding a bunch of new color to my stash. I love all fabrics and think I have a well rounded stash, but lately it’s been a lot of reproductions and soft pastel style prints. I needed bold rich color and Toyko Rococo satisfied. I added in some solids and begun the process. I chose the turquoise blue, not only because it’s one of my favorite colors, but to pop the other colors in the grouping. The solids also give the eye a place to rest.

First they became charm squares and the final project will be a twister quilt once it’s finished.

Prairie Women Continues

So I worked up to the very last minute to get this one done for our Prairie Women’s meeting. I’m so enjoying this 2 hours of my month. We have a little one this month that I’ll be putting together soon.

“Y” Seams

Last Saturday I took a Lunch and Quilt at Quilter’s General Store. It’s always an excellent time there and this was no exception. The food and company were awesome, but I also learned how to do one of the dreaded “Y” seams. Our pattern is Star in a Star from the book Star Savvy, which is a great book for star lovers. Anyway… the first one was a doozy, but second one whipped right together. Only 18 more to go for the quilt.

A Little Stash

So last Friday Cindy, Dawn, Leah, and I headed north to Madison. First off we hit Jerry’s Sew ‘n Vac where Dawn and I had some gift cards to burn. I picked up a roller foot and a curved piecing foot. My friend Julie turned me onto the curved piecing foot. I had never heard of it until she told me. It also got good reviews at the sewing machine shop. I have yet to try them, but hopeful for good results.

From there we had lunch and then headed out to one of my favorities… JJ Stitches, whose website is not quite ready yet. They specialize in reproduction and have lovely selections. After lunch we headed out for dessert and made our way back in a blizzard. We made good time for such a bad snow storm.

Reproductions are not my only favorite… I really couldn’t resist the new 3 Sister’s line by Moda – Papillion. The butterfly lover in me had to have it and will be making a quilt out of some of the fats.

Lily

Lily had sinus surgery on Monday. Poor thing has such a small nose, we think she’s not getting much air through there.

Hence she has no appetite and is just skinny as a rail. There are a few stitches in blue at the top on each side. She’s breathing good now and when the swelling goes down in a couple days, it should be even better. We’re also hoping for better drainage and less runny face.

She’s on pain meds and getting some triple antibiotic ointment applied with a swab. She should be feeling much better in a few days. Stitches come out in two weeks. I gave her the dose of pain meds today and she seems to already be feeling a bit better.

Yummy Roving

My friend Dawn and I went out to The Fold recently and this yummy ball of 85% BFL x 15% Tussah silk roving followed me home. I was very conservative and just got 12 ounces, but of course when I got home and started spinning it, I thought dang I really should’ve gotten the rest of the bag. I was thinking a large shawl or two small ones would be gorgeous in this color.

This is just a dream to spin. I’m getting about 30wpi per inch.

Still working on a few other rovings as well… dragonfly is on my Roadbug and get’s a spin once in a while.
