Progress

Sometimes progress isn’t always forward.  I found this out first hand yesterday when I decided, with some hesitation, to frog the Danish Tie Shawl.  It was seriously close to completion, but I was unhappy with how tightly I knitted it and felt I needed to up a few needle sizes.  I just kept thinking if I don’t like it, I won’t wear it - so it’s worth the re-knit.  Ah… maybe I’ll start back on that tonight.

Some progress that has gone forward are my Baudelaire socks.  I decided to knit the heel as written and really like how the gusset has turned out so far.

I’ve also finished my red scarf, and my three scarves for charity.  Finally I blocked my Bee Fields shawl.  Yes - totally done picture to follow and I also finished spinning the yarn some of the yarn I got at the Midwest Fiber Festival.  I’m going to knit these into a thick sock for spinning in the winter, when my feet get cold.

Project Updates

We’re having some super nasty weather right now and it would be a great day to just sit home and knit, but I have to go to work today.  Yuck.

Anyway - I’m looking over my project list on the side as I casted on a few more projects this week and I’m thinking - hey I should put the finishing touches on a few of these.  So this week I’m making it my goal to get the Bee Field Shawl done.  I have to weave in 2 ends and sew up the little bit of middle and block it.  You would think I could get this done.

So in the new project area - I started the Baudelaire pair and The Purple Squirrel for DH.  I was a bit farther on the squirrel, but ripped it back when I hated the M1’s I did.  No biggie - this will knit up quick.

DH loves them.

I was pressing to get this done as they were for our 7th Wedding Anniversary - The wool anniversary that passed earlier this month.  Back to knitting on a rotation.  Have to finish spinning a little more for my Danish Tie Shawl and get a new pair of socks casted on - Baudelaire - and start my February Lady’s Sweater.  Plus I’m working on a few scarves for charity that need to get done shortly, including my Red Scarf.

I’ve also been playing around on the computer today.  On the far sidebar - check out the cool progress bars courtesy of Raverly.  Totally cool.

90-degrees

Gosh do I hate this type of heat.  I think  it’s supposed to peak today and get down into the mid-80s, but still that’s way too hot for me.  Thank goodness for AC.  I couldn’t live without it.  I couldn’t knit without it.

I managed to weave in and seam up the back.  It now looks like a sock.  Yeah!

Couch Surfing

Well after hours and hours of watching an Inspector Lynley mystery, two discs of season three of All Creature Great and Small, and few episodes of Weeds season 2 and a bunch of other misc things… I finished the the argyle bits of the sock.  Whew!  It moves much quicker after this point.

Oh - and do you Plurk?  Why don’t you join me… it’s only totally addicting.  (lol)

Really This Is Not Chaos

My hand is feeling much better now and I’m back on the argyle.

And really this is all under control.  Yup.  Right.

More Argyle

So these are by far the most intensive socks I’ve ever knit.

At least they are fitting well and so far no complaints.

The Arglye Saga

I’m at that point to knit the top of the foot… coming along… the saga continues.

Argyle’s Continue

First off, with summer here it’s time for a bloggy re-do.  I have changed up the theme, so you may need to clear out your cache if you’re not seeing the changes.  I really don’t have any programming skills at all, but I’m always amazed at how many awesome free blog designs there are for Wordpress and how easy they are to change.  Also, with my banner design software, it’s super easy to take a plain banner and mix it up a bit.  Sometimes I think I really could get into this blog design thing.  I would love to learn more about the in’s and out’s, so it’s not all trial and error for me.  I’m thinking of checking out a community class at our local college this fall for it.  I think I saw one over there before.

Anyway, what is everyone doing with these rings ‘n things that are hanging out on the sidebars?  Has anyone else noticed that ring surf has really changed.  You don’t need all these previous, next, random bits.  Click on them and they take you to the ring surf page and you surf from there.  Now the Fiber Arts ring is different - that one works the regular way.  I just think hmmm… with Ravelry now things are changing at least in the sidebar blog world.

Anyway - onto the knitting.  The Argyle sock does continue.  I was telling Julie that I really am finding this project a bit tedious.  When she asked why, I said, well I think it’s the knit/wrap combo.  With Fair Isle you knit wrap and continue knitting until the end.  For some reason I can’t get the rhythm with this.  Maybe it’s the fingering weight yarn.  I’m not sure.

Plus I’m on a production schedule with this project.  I need to have them done by a certain date and really I think I’m a process knitter mostly.  I do production when I have to, but really I think I’m process at heart.

Studying the Art of Argyle

I’ve had a request for a pair of real Argyle socks.
