Even Weeds Can Be Pretty

I’m terribly allergic to everything in the garden.  I touch one thing and I will break out in hives.  Hence we have some very pretty and interesting weeds that popped up this year.

And these interesting thistle looking things.

The pickers on them are menacing.  Even the top is picky.

Saturday Sky

About 1:30am big storms rolled in and gave us another good rain.  While I love sleeping in storms, our river was just about going down.  Across the street from us the houses sit right on the river and I’m good with that.  I really don’t want to own river front property.

It then cleared up and then the clouds rolled right back in again.

Before I went off on my errands, I was able to work on my garden a bit and things appear to be coming along nicely.  Although with all this water, my zucchini is looking a little water logged.  Hopefully it will dry out soon and I will get a nice crop of my zucchini bread like a couple of years ago.  I made 12 loaves that year and had more than enough for stews and grilling.

Orange Echinacea

A little eye candy from my garden today!  I planted this 3 years ago, when we moved in and it has done well.  Not as well I think it could, so I’ve made sure to get it some food this year.

Back At McGregor’s Garden

Tomorrow the lawn is getting cut again, but today was the day for a wee little bunny to be bouncing around enjoying the clover.  After much observation our wee one was very discerning and really did only pick the clover.

I haven’t put lawn fertilizer or weed killer down in years.  I suppose, much to my neighbors dismay.  After Sophie’s trials and tubulations with her enlarged liver and reading the disclaimers on the back of these supposedly safe killers, I said - “you know the weeds really aren’t hurting anyone.”

And I have been playing with the banner a little more.  It’s not your eyes.  I switched it to a much lighter color after I noticed the blue was a smidge too dark against the faux wood grain. :)

Fresh From the Garden

Well the strawberries aren’t large, but they are coming along fast and furious now.
