If you don’t already know, let me say hand-dying yarn is easy. It’s time consuming, labor intensive and can give you a kink in your back or neck, but it’s not hard at all. After the first skein everyone started to relax. I got a lot of questions and one of the ones I usually [...] One of the local yarn shops here – The Yarn Sellar – hosted Dye Part 2007. I did the teaching enabling and brought all the supplies and for a small fee each person got to dye 2 skeins of fingering-weight yarn. Enough to make 2 pairs of socks or about 420 yards each. It was [...] As you know I’ve been busy spinning my singles for my classes on Saturday. I really can’t wait. I thought it would be a good time to use up some leftover dyes that have been just sitting in the basement.
This was just a quick dye trip [...] So I got you all up to Saturday of the trip. Well, Sunday we decided to have a dye day at Julie’s – once again thank you for hosting – sorry about the dye accidents on the patio. Whoops. Let’s just say Julie’s DH may never let us over again. Especially when we were really [...] So, I had went down to the basement (aka the fiber studio) and had a peek around. I hadn’t been down there in a while and I can tell. I really have to finish carding up that one fleece I started back in – oh October. I had forgot I dyed some fleece pink and [...] First let me just say Tobey’s paw is all better. By the time we woke up this morning his paw was back to normal. So he’s well on the mend. Thank you all for your well wishes and positive thoughts. I so appreciate them all. Anyway – let me give you a hint. That is [...] Yesterday I decided to work on my basket of fleece. I love the way this is coming out and I think it may actually be fingering weight when plyed back on itself – or at least sport weight.
I also dried and wound the yarn for the mittens. Whohoo – turned [...] I’m really not about the resolutions, but I am about goals. I try to set weekly, monthly, and yearly goals – all with the help of my Franklin Covey system (but we’ll leave that for another day of OCD problems). So looking over the past years much of my goals centered around knitting/spinning. I learned [...] Whoops!!! That’s all I really could think when I looked in the pot and saw that nice green color. Not a bad green, but definitely not blue. Uh oh… Still it works and is staying. I decided to do the Hawser, the green really made the decision for me.
