It’s time for another Madame Purl Book review and this one is by one of my most favorite authors – Adriana Trigiani. She has written another in her Big Stone Gap Series. This time Return to Big Stone Gap. When we catch of with Ave Maria MacChesey she is suffering with a case of empty [...] All Over Creation is an interesting novel by Ruth L. Ozeki that brings Yumi, our central character, full circle. The narration is quite fine and as the story unfolded it reminded me of peeling an onion – each layer is interesting and only after the central characters come together do you get to the edible [...] I have been washing wool today and just finished my latest book – Intuition by Allegra Goodman. The topic is not something I would normally gravitate to, but for some reason I was intrigued. I’m so glad I picked it up because it was an excellent read. The characters were well rounded and interesting. There [...] The Rug Merchant by Meg Mullins was my latest read and it’s definitely on the recommend list. I would say a solid 4 out of 5 stars. Our main character is an Iranian rug dealer that has come to live in NY leaving behind his wife and mother. Ushman (the main character) attempts to build [...] So it seems like my reading has really slowed down lately, but I have finished two books recently: The Collar and The Memory Keeper’s Daughter. The Collar by Jonathan Englert – The Collar is an insiders look at the making of second career priests. Mr. Englert follows 5 seminarians down the path towards priesthood at [...] Well, there is a reason when a book goes on best seller list after best seller list, isn’t there? And that reason is – because it’s good, really good. I put off listening to Snow Flower and the Secret Fan for a while because I knew it was going to be sad. Set in a [...] Be forewarned, The Good Good Pig by Sy Montgomery must receive a tissue box rating. I have a tissue box system of 1 to 5 boxes. One means it was sweet and you sighed happily with maybe a little tear and five means you may go through every tissue box in the house. I’m warning [...] Since I knew I was towards the end of 3 books, I decided to wait till I was done with them all before I published my book review – so you get a 3-fer. Flapper by Joshua Zeitz – I am not a big reading of [...] I have to tell you all about this book. A Guiding Star is a brand new novel by Joyce Stranger just released June 1, 2006, it’s only 186 pages. This little book needs as much press as possible because it’s a fantastic quick read.
