Whirlwind

The annual spring trip to Julie’s was once again a success.  We always plan far in advance and we try to pack in so many things it definitely qualifies as a whirlwind trip.

The first day we headed out to Fruitlands which was awesome.  Unfortunately the power was out so we couldn’t see any exhibits, but we did walk around the grounds.

Day two we headed to Boston and took in the Gardner Museum.  I would recommend taking the free tour.  We had a lovely guide and she was able to point a lot of things out and give us some back ground that made the museum make much more sense.

Wed through Friday was spent in NYC travel time.  We shopped till we dropped on Wednesday doing Purl Soho and a great Japanese book store.  We also got to visit Art Brown where a new Realo was purchased.

Thursday was spent at the Museum of Natural History.  This was the first time I had been there in… oh… about 25 years and it was awesome.  We did the silk road and the butterfly exhibit.  I think the butterflies ruled.  Check out this awesome moth.

For us fiber enthusiasts though – the spider silk was awesome.

Saturday and Sunday we headed to the NH Sheep and Wool where we made sure to do our fleeces first.  There were some gorgeous selections this year and they are already sitting in UT at Spinderellas to be processed.

Fleeces and goodies

It rained quite heavily on Saturday, so after I picked up my new Roadbug spinning wheel – which is so darn cute and able to travel in the airplane compartment, we headed back to Julie’s to wait out the rain.  Sunday we finished up the festival and then headed out to America’s Stonehenge.  So all in all 5 states, 25 pounds of fleece (approx.), a new wheel, new knitting books, and a new fountain pen.  Good times and good friends…what more could a girl want?
