Buttons and Big Shoes

On Wednesday Julie and I took advantage of the day and the beautiful weather to wander around Concord, MA.  After hitting the vitamin store, Julie bought a cake, we looked in the quilt shop, and then wandered into a delightful antique store, where these lovely buttons were purchased.  I’m hoping to use the top one for my February Lady Sweater.

On Thursday, we headed to Maine.  I had never been to Maine and was very eager to see the big shoe.  First though we went to Halcyon, where I got some little tools and a book – Latvian Dreams.   We went on to Purl Diva, which is one of the cutest stores ever – which meant there was a yarn purchase.  I loved the perfect shade of yellow and the one on the right reminded me of Maine.  The best thing about Maine – I loved smelling the sea every where we went.

Then we had lunch and headed over to to L. L. Bean.  First stopped at the outlet store and then made it over to the big store.  My find of the day was a new winter coat for $35.  Bonus! I’ve shopped the catalog for years, but never been to the actual store.  What a blast that was… definitely a highlight for me.  Probably a good thing I don’t live in Maine.  I’d be a regular.

Well, I’m keeping it short as I started working on the gardens.  Not a job I enjoy, but one that just has to get done.  So two hours was spent pulling weeds and pulling down a vine that went wild.  4 bags full later and that put a tiny dent in things.  Tomorrow it’s supposed to rain, so I’ll get a reprive until the weekend.

here I sit… with tears in my eyes… I LOVE the LLBean store… it is so beautiful with its hardwood floors, cosy places to sit… It is the only store that I know in the world where my dad went on a voluntary basis and even wanted to spend several hours in a row hehehe.
