Christmas

Christmas (aka Chrissy the Christmas Kitty) passed away today at 1:15pm.  When the doctor opened her up, she was packed full of cancer.  It was in the lymph nodes and wrapped around her stomach, intestines and pancreas.  A very aggressive cancer.  I’m sure it was very sudden as I just noticed her weight loss recently.  She had lost more weight over the weekend.  Unfortunately, there was nothing that could be done for her, but to humanely let her cross the rainbow bridge.

Last night she slept on my pillow one last night, purring me to sleep.  I’m so sad, I can’t even express it into words how much I will miss her.

These were pictures when she felt better.

And the very final picture of her.

We found her just before Christmas 1999.  My Mom was selling trees that year at her flower shop when she heard some very pathetic meows.  Really there were “I’m starving” cries.  My Mom searched her out and found her under a Christmas tree hiding.  Hence the name Christmas.  For 3 days food and water went in and nothing came out.

Well that year, it seemed like we were finding kittens and puppies like crazy.  We luckily placed them with friends and neighbors.  After a couple of days I said to my Mom, I’m not going to get attached.    I had a small apartment and had Sophie, Faygo, and Midnight (who crossed the Rainbow Bridge too already).  As soon as I said that, she reached up on her hind legs, put her front paws on me and rubbed her face on my face.  I knew I was done for at that point.  We were inseparable afterward.  She was a very loving cat.  I’m going to miss her purring on my pillow tonight and forever after.
