So I have to tell you I’m not pleased right now. I walked into the bathroom where I was soaking the scarf and found a sink full of dark purple water. The the second rinse gave me light purple water. I rinsed and rinsed and then rolled it in a towel and the towel has red on it. It went back into rinse some more and is still bleeding light purple. I’m going to be ticked it this bleeding of dye ruins this scarf and all the light colors have a purple cast to them. I’m already going to have to scrub the sink as it’s got a purple stain.
So last night went well. Needless to say the Spanx worked and nothing popped out and all was fine. 
Sadly I had to toss out my Zombie socks as after ten or more washings (with several rinses each and lots of vinegar) they just wouldn’t stop bleeding purple. They’d gone from black to a light grey. On the other hand, those mitts I made recently only bled color that once and seem fine now so maybe your scarf will be okay.
