I have a Gmail account, but I don't use it for email and I didn't have anybody in my gmail address book. HOWEVER, my MSN mail account was hacked into the exact same way - my address book was used to send the "hi" message and then it was deleted. I might add, however, that I listed my MSN email address as an "alternate" address on my gmail account.

BTW, I didn't get one of those emails either. I don't think I would have the energy to constantly delete contacts but I totally agree with more frequent changing of the password.
