Hats are truly the bane of one's existence - everyone's head is so different! Frustrating. In the past, when hats have been too big I have "fulled" them by washing them in the gentle cycle and popping them in the dryer for a bit. Then, I pull them out and pop on the intended one's head. I mold it, stuff it with newspaper and let it dry. But this is cotton....still I wonder if you couldn't shrink it a bit?

LOL... you threw me for a loop there too :) I thought 'oh Mme Purl's having a kiddo model a new hat'... and then I went 'huh, Mme Purl has furbabies... Oh it is Mme Purl herself' :)
My excuse: it is barely 9 am and when you go to sleep at 4 it makes for a short night :)

Cheers Eva - who always has the opposite problem, ie hats that are too short...

Oh dear - truly terrible fit!

I wouldn't say that hats are always tricky for you. Your meathead hat is so cute!

Better luck with the next one.
