So I decided on doing a three ply with this roving – it’s definitely a heavy worsted or even a bulky. I haven’t done wpi yet, because I’m astounded by how muted the colors are. Remember the roving? Well, when I washed it it bled and bled, which really surprised me.
It really looks brown now with flecks of pink and green. Instead of pink and green with a bit of brown. Up close though you can see the pink and green.
Hmmm… well that was interesting. I’m not sure on a beret now for this one. It is soft and squishy though.

I think this is why I have such a tendency to do a marl. I can’t remember if I blogged my plying experiments with the lollipop roving but remind me to dig those out to show you. I’ve got 3-ply lollipop, 2-ply lolli with one white and 1-ply lolli with two white. There is a huge difference between them.
I still think it is gorgeous even though it is all muted now. I’ve learned that you never know in advance what your yarn will look like… except if you use a single color roving to start with
Cheers Eva
It’s very pretty. But I guess pink and green are just too complementary to hold their own against each other. Isn’t it funny how spinning roving changes the colors?
