I’m going to ignore the obvious that today is some sort of pseudo holiday to some folks in this part of the world. Honestly I won’t be watching – never do – but I will be knitting because I didn’t do any knitting yesterday – and why not you, you may ask. Well, because I got really caught up in spinning for my Project Spectrum project and spun 2 ounces of yarn – which will be fine enough for sock yarn. I even used my Joy making sure it gets ample use. Actually I’m sure she gets lonely sitting in the closet waiting to come out to play. So I started to just try to spin as I went, but I did end up getting out my hand-cards and opened up the fiber – the fibers got a little mashed in the dye-pot. Whoops. Anyway – I think I’m really going to be happy with the result. However, I probably won’t find out for at least a few days as I want to get my sock finished and my almost Estonian Mitten finished.
You’ll notice a new button showed up on the side of my blog – not only Warm Hands, but also Knit like a Latvian – cool eh? Perfect for my Latvian mitten that is next on my list. I’ve been going back and forth on the yarn – which one – the ones in the fingering don’t really have colors I like are the ones in the sport too large. I was browsing yarns when I found Nature Spun – well, light bulb above the head please… I have a bunch of balls that may work for my mitten – I did a class with Julie and Carrie in which we made Fair Isle bags – well wouldn’t you know I would have a whole bunch left over. I’m sure I have enough for a set of mittens. I’m off to go check the stash and try to stay warm – it’s -6° F right now. Eeek.

Love the color, very pretty! I started spinning some blue faced leicester last night for the EZ cardi (same one you made your mom but shorter, more like waist/hip length). I’m spinning it fine and it will be 2-ply around fingering weight when done. I have 1-1/2 pounds, think that will be enough for the main color? I also have the pound I bought on our outing and will use that for the pattern.
Oo that is just gorgeous. I just did a whole turquoise bunch of stuff for my current secret pal. Sent out the big reveal package Friday so she should be getting it any day now.
