Your mom sounds like a handful. The fabrics are really pretty and I really like the patterns. I've been looking at bag patterns too. It's silly to run around with my knitting in a shopping bag. I have some rainbow batts that I got at Rhinebeck to make a felted bag. I hope to get the batts spun this fall after I settle in. I know you can make this bag. Go for it. Too funny!
