Madame Purl – like most good knit bloggers loves to knit socks. I have acquired an entire 2 inch binder full of sock patterns. Why is it then when I search through the patterns, I never can come up with a great one for cotton? Something about how unforgiving the yarn is – the lack of memory (very annoying) is in Madame’s opinion one of the drawbacks of cotton. I started this sock with the intention of doing the Broadripple pattern. But after several rows you could see that it really wasn’t tight enough to give good definition.
So this afternoon, I sat around with the entire Knitting Treasury Series while watching a movie – has Madame mentioned this hot, hot summer is wearing her down – and thumbed through only to find nothing – absolutely nothing suitable. Very unusual – considering the wealth of knowledge in those books and how my creativity normally flows when I look at them. It must be the heat. Anyway after I grew tired and just wanted to focus on the movie, I went back to my standby of simple sock. At least interesting pattern has been provided thanks to the dyers. This is Sockotta Cotton yarn.

It’s going to be all swirly- love it! I’m finding myself highly unmotivated to knit those straight ribbing socks I started on the way home from CO. I do have quite a lot of birthday crafting to get done. I’m sure I’ll finish them fairly soon. I have some sock exchange socks I really want to get started on.
Hello,
I love the colors of your yarn. Is it 100% cotton or a mix? If you look back a couple of posts on my blog, you will find a picture of blue/green/turquoise socks. They’re out of a cotton/wool mix. What I did is a very simple stitch pattern: rows 1-3 knit, row 4 k1, p1 all the way around. That’s all there is to it. Even with selfstriping yarn it looks great!!!
Cheers Eva
